This month we will open the night from Beth McDonald playing solo tuba w/ electronics. She’s just released two brand new albums of solo material exploring deep electronic drones and gorgeous acoustic environments. We’ll then see a trio set from McDonald, multi-instrumentalist Ro(b)//ert Lundberg, and trombonist Riley Leitch. This month series curator Emily Beisel has arranged a Milwaukee and Chicago exchange of artists with the same show happening here at Elastic on August 13th and up in Milwaukee on August 18th! We love Milwaukee and are so glad to see this energy moving up and down Lake Michigan. We’ll have Milwaukee artists Mere of Light, Annie Grizzle, and Ophelia meeting up with Chicago artists and Elastic regulars Kim Alpert, Olula Negre, and Wannapa P-Eubanks. Starting the night out we’ll have a solo set from new-to-Chicago synthesist Kim Nucci. Kim uses modular synth and voice to create dense textures and brooding swells of sound. We’ll then hear a set from multidisciplinary artist GoldGrrl who explores all genres of music/sound, but tonight will be presenting new work for voice/electronics. This month the Pleiades series is ALL ABOUT THE JAM! Last year's jam sessions were amazing and brought so many new folks out to Elastic. So this month we're taking the whole evening to focus on and celebrate those connections. We will have both small and large group sets and people who want to will be able to play more than once. The jam is open to all femme/women/nonbinary/genderfluid folks, however EVERYONE is welcome to attend and support! Grab your instrument and come join us (all experience levels welcome)!

The December edition of our Pleiades Series features the amazing performance/noise duo nunn and a fresh trio from Kim Alpert, Pleiades curator Emily Beisel, and turntablist Allen Moore. This show will not include the usual jam session at the end, but come on out and rock with these great bands.

The November edition of our Pleiades Series features a duo of drummer Lily Finnegan and cellist Katinka Klein folllowed by Chicago ensemble Akosuen. We’ve reached 1 year of Pleiades Series! It’s been an incredibly special year of performances, jam sessions, and femme artist elevation. We’re so thankful Emily Beisel has presented this year of shows and can’t wait for another year!
