Pleiades is the recipient of the Elastic Arts' Performing Arts Curatorial Residency program this year! Thanks to the support of this program we are able to present the fantastic NYC-based improviser, gabby fluke-mogul. This show will also include a more extended free improvisation jam session: open to all womxn and nonbinary musicians, movers and other artists (e-mail pleiades@elasticarts.org to join the jam.)
gabby fluke-mogul is a New York based violinist, improviser, composer, & educator. fluke-mogul exists within the threads of improvisation, the jazz continuum, noise, & experimental music. Their playing has been described as “embodied, visceral, & virtuosic" & "the most striking sound in improvised music in years..." Foxy Digitalis on fluke-mogul's newest solo release LOVE SONGS on Relative Pitch writes "Love is harsh. Visceral. A cocoon and a screaming stitch. gabby fluke-mogul’s follow-up to last year’s threshold (one of my favorite albums of 2021) is invigorating in a different way, but just as impactful. Their music has always been saturated with vulnerability and openness, but on LOVE SONGS that spirit is held closer. fluke-mogul puts so much raw emotion into their playing that it becomes infectious. They are a conduit..." gabby is humbled to have collaborated with Nava Dunkelman, Joanna Mattrey, Fred Frith, Daniel Carter, Ava Mendoza, Jessica Pavone, Luke Stewart, Zeena Parkins, & Pauline Oliveros among many other musicians, poets, dancers, & visual artists. gfm holds a MFA in Music Performance & Literature from Mills College, a BA in Music & Early Childhood Education from Hampshire College, & a Deep Listening certificate from The Center for Deep Listening at Rensselaer. gfm is the Program Manager for Creative Music Studio. www.flukemogul.com
