Body of Water, a new work by Chicago tabla player, artist, and composer Krissy Bergmark, is an exploration of family history and epigenetic inheritance, storytelling and lineage, and the memories we store in our bodies that are not always our own. The piece moves between the re-telling of a family historical event, and Bergmark’s own reflections, memories, and bodily sensations. Her first foray into expanded performance mediums, her memories come to life in the vivid visuals, soundscape and music, and tactile elements.
