Improvised Music Series: Isaiah Collier's The Mercurian Force

At this week’s Improvised Music Series we welcome a new group from prolific musician Isaiah Collier named The Mercurian Force. The group is a sextet founded by DownBeat award winning saxophonist/ multi-instrumentalist and composer Isaiah Collier. Paying homage to iconic sextet sounds of jazz which take inspiration from Miles Davis, Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, and Cannonball Adderley Sextet. Rekindling attention to one the most important ensemble formats of this Art form. Joined by Trumpeter, composer, arranger, educator and bandleader Marques Carroll who has graced the stage with The Count Basie Orchestra, Dee Dee Bridgewater Christian McBride, and Jimmy Heath.  Along with bassist, composer and educator Emma Dayhuff, who has shared the stage with Herbie Hancock, Robert Irving III, Victor Goines, Dee Alexander, Kahil El Zabar, Vincent Davis,  and is also a fellow of the prestigious "Herbie Hancock Institute ''.  Jared Draper on Trombone, Julian Davis Reid on piano and Nova Zaii on drums.  Bringing a new message of Today's music and tomorrow's innovations.
