Violet Booleans is the improvising duo of violinist/violist Magnolia Rohrer (violin/viola) and electronic musician Derek Worthington (laptop).

Keefe Jackson (sax/clarinet), Peter Maunu (guitar/violin), and Christopher Dammann (bass) join Jacob Little Cloud Fawcett (drums) for a set of improvised music. This will be the first time the quartet has performed together.

About the Artists

Magnolia Rohrer is an experimental violinist and violist based in Detroit. They have recently been listening to Éliane Radigue, LaMonte Young, Arthur Russell, and hymns their roommate Madeline plays on the autoharp.

Composer/laptop performer Derek Worthington’s work integrates elements of jazz, electronic music, art music, and free and directed improvisation. His composing practice combines experimental jazz with poytempic structures. As an improviser, he uses a constantly evolving live processing system built in SuperCollider, focusing on duo improvisations with acoustic musicians.
