Night two of the festival will host the return of Hearts & Minds (Jason Stein, Paul Giallorenzo, Chad Taylor) with a set from Potliquor (Sharon Udoh + Allen Moore) in special ensemble form alongside guests Macie Stewart and Ben Hall!
Potliquor is an experimental duo with pianist Sharon Udoh and turnablist Allen Moore. The two of them hearken back to the ancestors and call towards Black futures through sampling, remixing, and improvisation. The connection they’ve created in their first year of collaboration has been incredibly special, and we can’t wait to hear them alongside guests Macie Stewart on strings and Ben Hall on percussion.
Called a “singularly original unit gleefully tapering between sound and swing”, Hearts & Minds combines brash fluidity, raw lyricism, and emphatic grooves. Hearts & Minds is a collective of Jason Stein (bass clarinet) and Paul Giallorenzo (synth, e piano), and Chad Taylor (drums).
