Hot Second + Reumert/Elten Percussion Duo

We have a very special matinee event curated by our friend Mabel Kwan with two duos performing new work. Hot Second is the violin / percussion duo of Dylan Feldpausch (violin) and Rebecca McDaniel (percussion). Their short program will take the audience on a kaleidoscopic journey through soundworlds that are playful, mysterious, and reflective, with music by Gabriela Ortiz, Esperanza Spalding, and improvisations. The Reumert/Elten Percussion Duo consists of the internationally acclaimed Danish soloists, Mathias Reumert (b. 1980) and Anders Elten (b. 1989). A telepathic and virtuoso ensemble, the two musicians explore a repertoire spanning from brand new pieces to transcriptions of classical masterworks. The duo distinguishes itself from other percussion ensembles by cultivating the more melodic percussion instruments: the warm-sounding marimba and its jazzy relative, the vibraphone. They collaborate with today's leading French composer, Philippe Manoury, and will be perform his newest work, Argumenta.

Philippe Manoury: Argumenta
Steve Reich: Nagoya Marimbas
Maurice Ravel: Le Tombeau de Couperin (1917)
(Arrangement for percussion: Mathias Reumert
