Blk Ark: The Impossible Manifestation (Sonic Sojourn) is the bubbling build up of questions of the outside. What will it take to get free? Can we see a new world from here?
This live quest and in-process sonic sharing is helmed by Dark Matter residency artist Cat Mahari in tandem with Blk Arts educator and brilliant DJ Jarius King (King GNS) and bad ass bass provider Julius Brüntink.

Jarius “ManOfGod” King is a performing artist and Black Arts ("streetdance") instructor. A member of Rhythm Attack (Hong Kong) from2006-2019, a current member of Motion Disorderz (U.S.A.), his beginnings as a serious dancer began in the year 2000 in the art of Breaking (commonly referred to as "Breakdance”). As part of Awesome Style Konnection, a dance group based out of his hometown, Chicago, he became versed in multiples styles of dance/movement. King's passion for dance to connect people from various backgrounds led to him co-founding and directing "Breakin' The Law: International Festival of Urban Movement." Started in 2004 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, “BTL” ran for 11 consecutive years and grew to be one of the biggest annual urban dance festivals in the history of the Midwest. Including hosting qualifiers in Hong Kong, Capetown, Panama City, Manila, and various cities in the U.S.A. King is also a professional DJ and event MC; known as King G.N.S. (pronounced "Genius"). Through his multiple talents and experiences, he expresses "I've learned to not be a great dancer or dance teacher. Instead I've learned to be great at self-expression and sharing my passion with the world.”
cat mahari’s practice is built from a richly layered body history, stemming from an archive of research, physical training and intent to manifest an intellectual, material and informal legacy of Blk liberation through documentation. By examining personal marks and socio-genealogical maps, she explores inner and outer built environments. Currently, mahari is preparing Blk Ark: the impossible manifestation - a multimodal reflective of marronage, anarchism, Hip Hop, and play to be completed 2025.
Julius Brüntink spent the better part of his twenties recording under the moniker ‘Sylvie Gloom’ which served him well at bringing a certain sense of emotional sensitivity to classic rock tropes. His childhood years singing as choir boy in his Western German parish set the foundation for his harmonic approach to this day. He never received classical training but autodidactically started learning a variety of instrument as a teenager. While studying literature and theatre studies his obsession with the concept of ‘playing the music studio’ grew. Sylvie Gloom as a project orients itself on recording artists like Prince that gave the impression of a live band while in fact they were playing all the instruments on their own. Julius does not shy away from collaboration, though: His recent focus on the bass guitar and effect circuitry aims at fusing element of driving kraut rock with hip hop and electronica.
