ABOUT THE DOCUMENTARY:

Homeroom is excited to present a 40-minute film featuring Chicago jazz legend and master drummer Avreeayl RA created in collaboration with Mexico City-based Rhizomes Films.

The basis for the film emerged from Avreeayl RA's four-week residency with Homeroom at Elastic Arts last February, when Ra was given the resources and freedom to explore new ideas during four performances with his group Dream Stuff. With footage from this residency, taken from the multi camera live stream and close recorded microphones, plus additional voice-overs from Avreeayl and archival content woven in by Mexico City-based Rhizomes Films, the film celebrates Ra's impressive career spanning over half a century and documents his extraordinary influence on Chicago's avant-garde jazz scene.
