Virtual Voices of the Void (VVV), an improvising group formed via Zoom during the Covid-19 pandemic, presents its first performances in the physical realm. Alter NatiVVVe begins from Pauline Oliveros’s Sonic Meditation “Native”: “Take a walk at night. Walk so silently that the bottoms of your feet become ears.” Using the immersive 16-speaker CLEAT speaker system at Elastic, Alter NatiVVVe invites listeners to enter at 5 minute intervals and concentrate on a particular sound as it changes and drifts through the room, while extending their awareness to the chorus of other sonic fragments.
