ABOUT THE BANDS
Hatcher/Maunu/Kirshner is a union of three Chicago-based musicians active across diverse musical scenes, with a focus on the possibility of expanding territories to be found within the context of jazz and free improvisation. Through touring and extended playing, the trio has further opened up their comfortability with high-volume and high-density improvisation, in addition to quieter, textural, lower-case explorations, no show being quite like the one which preceded it. Gerrit, Peter and Julian have played with each other extensively over the last half decade, having toured Midwestern, Appalachian, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeastern cities with the trio, and routinely expanded upon the core group with additional improvisors in Chicago. Hatcher/Maunu/Kirshner can be heard on record on The Raven and the Dove (JAKI003) and Live at Splice Series (KTHL007).
