With individual backgrounds in photography and sound, Kimberly Craven and Patrick Scott found strong common interest in the realm of film. Their first collaboration is BETWEEN SETS, a 20-minute documentary featuring intimate interviews with underground and avant-garde artists whose styles span from academic precision to boundary-pushing experimentation. Originally intended as a portrait of a single festival, the project grew into a broader conversation about artistic identity, creative process, and community. The film offers a candid look at the motivations and backgrounds of these artists, as well as the challenges they face in explaining their unconventional art to those unfamiliar with experimental music and performance.
Closing. is the sore sound of cities, the friction between life and concrete, the amplified hum of power lines and the creatures that scurry beneath them. Combining clipped field recordings, tape hiss/manipulation/decay, slow synthesis and amplified electro-acoustic minutiae, brooklyn, new york’s patrick scott (verhalten/unur/modern tapes) weaves a coarse fabric of slow sounds accompanied by equally grimy video feedback/synthesis by photographer/filmmaker Kimberly Craven.
Theo Katsaounis + Kat Borderud Duo. Theo Katsaounis (He/Him) on guitar and Kat Borderud (She/They) on drums will be opening the show with an improvised set.
