Vee, Julie, and David met through a School of Song workshop led by Brian Eno in January 2025. At the end of the workshop, the Chicago-based participants gathered to share one of the songs they had written that month. Fifteen people crammed into Julie’s living room, performing live or recorded Brian Eno–influenced work. The evening was deeply inspiring: songwriters from different
backgrounds and genres sharing vulnerability, talent, and generous support for one another. The group decided to continue meeting monthly to share new work and exchange feedback. Now, these three will bring their music to the stage at Elastic Arts, showcasing three distinct approaches to songwriting.

Otto Rollo is the Chicago-based music project of performer and educator, David Seeber. Guided by curiosity, improvisation, and a sense of play, David has been creating ambient, down-tempo synth and sample-based sound experiments since 2011. He has performed at The Empty Bottle, Comfort Station, Sleeping Village, and The Burlington. David returns with Deep Sigh, the 13th release under his long-running music experiment. Blending improvisation, looping textures, and dreamy ambient synths, Deep Sigh expands David’s previous ambient, sample-based sonic worlds with bright, swirling plucked strings and hammered bells. For this special performance, David will present selections from the new album alongside improvised interpretations of works by Steve Reich, creating an immersive live experience rooted in spontaneity, repetition, and atmosphere.

Since releasing her debut album Queenshead (2013), Julie Meckler has expanded her practice across music, movement, healing and educational work. She is a mother, birth doula, private French teacher, Social-Emotional Learning coach, and the creator of Shake Shook Shaken, a movement and connection series launched in 2022 at Elastic Arts. She also sings in a Leonard Cohen tribute project alongside Bill MacKay and Michael Rakowitz. Following a residency at The Post Farm, she is currently developing new music for live performance, experimenting with loops and beats alongside her haunting voice and guitar. Her songs move between the intimate and the political, the personal and the universal.

Vee is a human being. Like the kind with teeth, hair, skin, and ankles. They’re not all teeth and ankles, though. They’ve got other things: a big ol’ beating heart, kneecaps, fingerprints, etc. And more relevantly, they’ve got a guitar. And what does anyone do with a guitar? They play it! Don’t get it twisted: Vee is not an extraterrestrial who plays hockey for political influence. Vee is a human song-writer in Chicago who plays songs about stuff for you for free or for money.
