Michael Zerang and Tim Kinsella perform for the 2nd time ever as a duo and the first time with their new band name, Typhoon Matisse.

Texas based vibraphonist Stefan González is visiting Chicago in preparation to move there this fall. In an attempt to immerse themself in the vibrant improvised and free jazz community, they are playing in a first time trio with dear friends, Chicago mainstays, and respected world class improvisers, Lily Glick Finnegan (drums) and Andrew Scott Young (bass).

About The Artists

Michael Zerang was born in Chicago, Illinois, and is a first-generation American of Assyrian decent. He has been a musician, composer, and producer since 1976, focusing on improvised music, free jazz, contemporary composition, puppet theater, experimental theater, and international musical forms.

As a percussionist, composer and collaborator, Zerang has over one hundred and thirty-five titles in his discography and has toured nationally and internationally to 40 countries since 1981, and works with and ever-widening pool of multi-disciplinary collaborators.

Tim Kinsella plays in the groups Kinsella & Pulse, LLC and Who Is The Witness? and has previously played in the bands Joan of Arc, Owls, and Cap’n Jazz. He is the author of a few books including the new novel Danny B.
