About the Artists
The Good-by Number is a new free improvisation trio of Hannah Bureau (violin) Bekah Dotzel (cello) and Ethan T. Parcell (drums and clarinets). Long time collaborators in various settings, including Parcell's acclaimed opera ensemble Focus Group LLC, The Good-by Number plays improvised chamber music equally in touch with our city's robust free jazz tradition as sounds and concepts from contemporary composition. Taking a rigorously rehearsed approach to repetition and orchestration, they self-released their first studio recording in August 2024.
Derek Baron is a musician and writer living in New York. They have released music on Recital, Pentiments, Notice, and other labels. They also run the record label Reading Group.
Luke Martin is an experimental musician and writer living in Minneapolis. He plays guitar, sine generator, and no-input mixing board, often with people in and around the Wandelweiser Group, and is part of the ensemble Ordinary Affects. Luke's work focuses on silence and the relation between music and truth.
Luke and Derek have a duo release out on Notice Recordings - "Distinct and Concealed"
