This week’s Improvised Music Series welcomes a menagerie of musicians from Chicago and the Greater Midwest.
The quartet of Alex Cunningham (violin, St Louis), Seth Andrew Davis (electric guitar, laptop, & electronics, Kansas City), Weasel Walter (drums, Chicago), & Andrew Scott Young (double bass, Chicago) features the first meeting with this particular configuration from veterans and long-time collaborators.
Sarah Clausen is a saxophonist, composer and educator based in Chicago, IL.
Utilizing space, unique melodic content, and diverse textures, Sarah has developed an approach to improvisation and composition that is forward moving, and inspired by many musical traditions. While completing her Bachelor’s of Music in Jazz Performance at Northern Illinois University, Sarah studied under renowned Chicago Saxophonist Geof Bradfield, and has had the opportunity to work with artists such as Anna Webber, Jon Finlayson, Maria Grand, Jon Irabagon, John O’Gallager, James Falzone, and Greg Ward.
Erez Dessel is a pianist, composer, educator, and curator.
He currently lives in Chicago, where he can be found leading his own groups, as well as playing in groups led by drummer Tim Daisy, saxophonist Ken Vandermark, and a variety of other improvisers.
