Christopher Riggs is an autistic person who plays experimental music on the electric guitar. Without the use of processing or effects, they squeeze sounds from their guitar the Chicago Reader has called “unapologetically ugly.” Hailing from southwest Michigan, Braeden Rodriguez seeks to make art that is both sincere and arresting. They combine the raw unpredictability of no-input mixing board with austere synthesizer textures and field recordings. A transplant from Los Angeles, guitarist/violinist Peter Maunu has performed and recorded with countless musicians including Billy Cobham, The Commodores, Charlie Haden, Charles Lloyd, Joni Mitchell, Jean-Luc Ponty, Archie Shepp, Grace Slick, Tony Williams, and the Oakland Symphony.
King Sophia (Detroit, MI) is a multidisciplinary storyteller and world-builder. Classically trained, King Sophia's cellistic prowess is their main processor for the world around them. King Sophia is known for their versatility expressed through live arranging and live composing — what others call ‘improvisation.’ These creations are grounded in their identities of Black Indigenous Queerness and a desire to preserve, showcase, and build upon non-hegemonic music history. Chad Kouri is a Chicago-based working artist, musician, and storyteller interested in the healing powers of color, sound, and abstraction. His mixed-race identity is mirrored by his multidisciplinary studio practice with interests focusing broadly on social justice and community organizing, color theory, visual communication, improvisation, radical joy, and Chicago’s monumental history of resistance music, jazz, and the avant-garde.
