Rising star guitar and composer Jessica Ackerley returns to Chicago for an evening of duo and quartet performances with Midwest collaborators, building on their acclaimed hybrids of free jazz and contemporary composition.

About the artists

Jessica Ackerley is a Canadian guitarist, improviser and composer based in Honolulu and New York City and has been described as "one of the most exciting guitarists to have emerged from the US free music scene in recent years" by Wire Magazine.

Alexey Logunov is a composer and pianist with a primary focus on contemporary and experimental music. His music explores textural density, timbral complexity, and fusion of acoustic and electronic sound worlds.

Billie Howard is a multi-instrumentalist, sound artist, music educator, and event producer. As Akosuen, she composes experimental music that focuses on breathing cycles, chronic pain, and mediation on both quiet and extremely loud sounds.

Ben Zucker has contributed to experimental music scenes across North America and Europe with “stirring compositions…built on a lifetime of musical curiosity” (Chicago Reader) as well as albums multimedia situations and frequent performances on vibraphone, brass, voice and electronics. They currently live in Chicago working as a freelance composer, performer, lecturer, and curator.
