Improvised Music Series: Chrysalis (Acevedo/Jackson/Baker/Bitney) + Chicago Microbes (Greene/Roebke/Sudderberg)

Two free-jazz groupings with all-star casts explode in a night to remember.

Chrysalis is a Chicago-based quartet uniting some of the city’s most accomplished improvisers: Dan Bitney (percussion, electronics), Keefe Jackson (reeds), Jim Baker (piano, synthesizer), and Ausberto Acevedo (bass). Together, they create music that merges free improvisation, jazz, and experimental soundscapes.

CHICAGO MICROBES is the newest project led by composer/saxophonist/guitarist Will Greene. Featuring Jason Roebke on double bass and Phil Sudderberg on drums, this trio embraces and sabotages this classic lineup in a single breath. Skeptically tuneful and skillfully obtuse.
