Desert Liminal

Sam Wagster

We’re excited for this rare Monday show where we host travelling experimental americana duo Horses 4K, a duo take of local legends Desert Liminal, and a rare solo set from the amazing Sam Wagster.

Experimental duo Horses 4k brings together ambient country and underground noise in an exploration of American forms that resists typical ambient gestures. Robin Guiler uses a sampler and synthesizer for live processing of Jacob Trombetta’s pedal steel guitar, while Trombetta plays and manipulates his own chain of effects.

Desert Liminal duo (Sarah Jane Quillin & Mallory Linehan) is an experimental dream pop project centering live layered analog synthesizer, violin, and vocal harmony loops to form spectral, melodic walls of sound. Desert Liminal's songwriting strength lies in rendering bleak memories into a beautiful and distant landscape - themes like hope in desolation, memory, alienation, addiction and recovery amidst the natural beauty of a rural river valley recur in DL's varied discography.

Based is Chicago, Sam Wagster is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, pedal steel, bass) and songwriter working across various genres from experimental to Americana to rock. He is the principal songwriter for The Father Costume, an atmospheric pop band he co-fronts with his wife, Mute Duo, his long-standing pedal steel and percussion collaboration with Skyler Rowe, has released recordings on American Dreams and Astral Editions and toured extensively. He also has numerous solo/ambient pedal steel centered recordings.
