Elastro: Hameedullah, Desiring Machines

Hameedullah

Janna Lee

Norman Long

At this month’s Elastro series we present a solo set from producer/DJ Hameedullah and a new duo from Janna Lee and Norman Long called Desiring Machines.

Hailing from Chicago, educator, beatmaker, and DJ, Hameedullah takes and blends from his disciplines to create music and experiences that are uniquely his own. Under his label Lunt and Oglesby, the artist’s passion for vinyl, DJ’ing, and electronic music is platformed and championed through his self-released projects, inventive programming, and YouTube content. For his Elastro set, Hameedullah will perform and assemble live sound collages and dance music through his Elektron Digitakt and Korg Kaoss Pad.

Desiring Machines is sound artist Norman Long and vocalist Janna Lee. Their shared experience as people of color who came of age in the 90s is translated into a post-structural/industrial exploration of modular synthesizer, heavy beats, and ghostly vocals.
