We're so pleased to announce the Elastic Arts 4th Annual Benefit taking place on Friday May 20th, 2022. After two years of limited programming and foregoing the 2021 benefit, the organization needs community support more than ever to remain a sustainable space for creative music, art, and performance. The event will highlight many of the things that make Elastic Arts what it is, but most importantly we will celebrate togetherness. Our community is invited to our Logan Square space for the celebration, but we welcome anyone and everyone to join us virtually as we'll be streaming the benefit in entirety live through the streaming page on our website.

The night will commence with beverages and heavy hors d'oeuvres, then lead into a full program of sound and visual delights. We're honored to have the long-running band Hearts and Minds headline, featuring Elastic co-founder Paul Giallorenzo, Chicago ex-pat percussionist Chad Taylor, and close friend of the organization Jason Stein. One of our exciting quarterly series Freedom From and Freedom To will present an abridged version of their movement/sound ensemble improvisations, and Norman Long will activate the 16-channel CLEAT speaker system immersing our guests in a bath of sound. Closing the night out will be a set by DJ Major Taylor so we may dance our way into the weekend.

Every year we recognize an individual that truly embodies the spirit of Elastic Arts with the Elastic Achievement Award. This year we've chosen three people who personify that spirit, but who mostly work behind the scenes and may not always get the recognition they deserve. Kate Dumbleton leads the organizational team behind the Hyde Park Jazz Fest every year and also teaches arts administration and policy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago . Tracie D. Hall has been a dynamic advocate for the arts in her roles at Boeing and the Joyce Foundation, in running Rootwork Gallery and performing arts space, and now as the first African American Executive Director of the American Library Association. Tushar Samant has been a constant supporter of the Elastic community for many years by attending shows, helping rescue our computer systems from attacks, and also by running the crucial online event calendar NowIs.org. These three exemplify the backbones necessary for an arts community to thrive.

We've once again organized a robust silent auction and record store that include amazing record bundles, gift certificates, original art, and unique experiences. We'll open the auction up a couple weeks before May 20th and make sure everyone has a chance to browse and bid! The event is going to be packed with goodness and we'd love everyone to join us either in person or online.
