Artist Bios

Devon Rodlund is an Illinois based sound artist who explores ambient and Avant Garde music. His most recent project "Frozen Music, a Windy Circus on Devil in the White City" is a realization of the John Cage score "_, _ _ Circus On _", which is a means to translate a book into a musical composition. For his realization, he has used the novel "Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson.

Anna Chaurize is a Chicago-based sound artist specializing in multi-channel installation and sounding objects. Chaurize's piece "The Voice of a Mother" uses recordings of her own mother, Sabine Chaurize. Sabine was a classically trained classical and opera singer, until having children put her work on hold. However, she experienced paralysis of a vocal cord and can only sing now with the aid of a vocal implant. This piece focuses on the loss and endurance Anna's mother faces.
