The CLEAT Series focuses on work composed for the 16-channel speaker system in our space, allowing audiences to experience different approaches to spatial audio. June’s edition features a set from Alyssa Miserendino and Conor Tighe where they will present the Oropendola project, one that utilizes brainwaves, Amazonian field recordings, and electronic instruments. We’ll then have a set from Elastic Arts regular Ben Zucker performing solo on the system. Every month we’re consistently surprised with what can be done with this spatial sound system, and we know this month will be no different. It’s an incredibly unique experience every time. Join us!

Alyssa Miserendino and Conor Tighe will be performing a live brainwave concert, in response to field recordings Alyssa has recorded in the Amazon, the desert, and other locations. Utilizing the 16 channels of the CLEAT system, the performance is spatialized by separate brain waves assigned to electronic instruments. The remaining channels spatialize the field recordings, previously recorded on binaural or multiple channel rigs. This performance is a celebration of Alyssa Miserendino and Joshua Bruner's first vinyl album, Oropendola, released on February 14, 2023. The vinyl album will be available for sale, from the small edition of 200.

Acclaimed as a "master of improvisation" (IMPOSE Magazine), and “more than a little bit remarkable” (Free Jazz Blog), they have contributed to experimental music scenes across North America and the UK with “stirring compositions…built on a lifetime of musical curiosity” (Chicago Reader), as well as albums, multimedia situations, and frequent performances on vibraphone, brass, voice, and electronics. Following studies at Wesleyan University (BA), Brunel University London (MA), and Northwestern University (PhD), they currently live in Chicago.
