About the Artists
Akio Jeimus: Drummer/Improviser originally from Chicago, currently residing in Japan. In 2024, he joined the Osaka-based band goat (jp), and has been playing festival stages in Europe including Rewire and Moers. As an improviser, Akio has collaborated with a wide array of world-class artists including Toshimaru Nakamura, Eiko Ishibashi, Otomo Yoshihide, and Geordie Greep. In 2021, Akio self-released "Multipresence," a collection of self-recorded drum set solo improvisations, and has independently toured Japan five times since.
Nick Anaya: A saxophonist dedicated to discovering his own way in the musical landscape of Chicago, Nick Anaya has spent the last 20 years exploring and listening. He has led bands in New Mexico, Texas and Illinois and brings a sound pallet as diverse as his background. Most importantly, he values the long term relationships he has forged with his fellow musicians and looks forward to being reunited with this ensemble after many years apart.
Sam Frampton:
Sam Frampton is a guitarist/composer based in Chicago. His eclectic interests have led him into a variety of musical settings.
Past projects include work with rock fusion band Nine Tigers and comedy-jazz trio Bluebirds. He has released hip-hop productions under the name Third Ear and singer-songwriter jams as Macomb Jones. 2019 saw the release of Elastic Sun, a set of genre busting improvisations recorded with Japan-based drummer Akio Jeimus.
In late 2023, Sam released Comfort, an album of original compositions for solo acoustic guitar. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in jazz guitar performance at DePaul University School of Music.
Christopher Dammann:
Christopher is a composer/bassist who lives in Chicago. He is lucky enough to have improvised with many of his favorite musicians, worked in a variety of bands, performed music for national television shows and ad campaigns. He writes music for games, television and film.
Kirsten Carey, Ben Zucker, and Ben Willis perform angsty drones for anxious times.
