The quartet of Chris Moore (alto saxophone), Xris Espinoza (tenor saxophone), Ishmael Ali (cello), and Adam Shead (drums) brings together four musicians at the epicenter of Chicago's youngest improvised music generation. Working in an egalitarian manner this group of musicians draws influence from a wide spectrum of the improvised music tradition, including free-bop, non-idiomatic improvisation, deep-listening practices, and dadaist exploration. For tonight's performance the Moore/Espinoza/Ali/Shead quartet will perform a set of music that will feature highly energetic interplay while remaining focused on its collaborative and exploratory ethos. The high energy duo of Ben Schmidt-Swartz and Vincent Davis kicks things off.
