    Richard Pinhas, Wume, Olson/Billington

French experimental composer + Baltimore-based electronics duo + local noisers
Richard Pinhas is a legendary and influential French experimental composer, known both for his solo work and for his band Heldon. A pivotal figure in the international development of electronic rock music, Pinhas’ stature in France is analogous to Tangerine Dream’s in Germany: the father figure of an entire musical movement. The pioneering, aggressive music produced by his band Heldon during the 1970s, fusing electronics, guitar and rock, heralded the industrial and techno to come and remains today vital and unsurpassed. The ‘Father’ of electronic music in France is also recognized as a world-class guitarist whose “diabolical guitar work” (Progression) earns comparisons with Robert Fripp.

Wume is a Baltimore based duo that “make[s] the complex, the layered, the expansive, the sunnily songlike out of two instruments, on and off, zero and one. That deft synthesis is what makes Wume stand out from the crowd of motorik-driven synth fans these days” (CityPaper)

Olson/Billington is John Olson (Wolf Eyes) + Ben Billington (Quicksails, Ono, Tiger Hatchery)
