Elastic Arts announces its “Nights Out in the Park” Culture Coach series presented in conjunction with the Chicago Park District and Kuumba Renaissance of Madison, Wisconsin.
The Culture Coach, a traveling pop-up stage, will bring music and hands-on art experiences to 10 parks clustered on the South and West sides of Chicago. The series begins Friday, June 28 and ends on Friday, August 30. Each park visit will include DJ Ayana and a different band chosen to reflect genres selected by the park supervisor. A large easel with a painting canvas, brushes and paint will be available for the audience to co-create a painting that will be given to each park supervisor to display in the field house.
The evening’s fun begins at 5 p.m. with DJ Ayana spinning from her extensive collection of records. The band hits at 6 p.m. and will play music to make your feet move until after 7 p.m. when DJ Ayana returns to play more danceable music until 8 p.m. Neighborhood artists can paint as the music inspires them. Bring a chair or a blanket, some refreshments and your dancing shoes.
“Night Out in the Parks” brings more than 750 activities to neighborhood parks this summer, to help make community parks safe havens and hubs of activity. Check out the schedule attached, find a park and join in the fun. For other park activities consult the website:
