CANCELED: wild.church (Erik Schoster, Paul Feyertag) & PK Flyer

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED. Computer musician Erik Schoster makes a tour stop with his new duo. This will also be a release show for PK Flyer's new ep! It will be the first performance of these pieces and feature a string quartet alongside Karner's piano and op-1.

Erik Schoster and Paul Feyertag of Milwaukee, WI. Schoster has been releasing music under the moniker He Can Jog (https://hecanjog.bandcamp.com/) for well over a decade. He’s collaborated with Shara Nova, Sam Scranton (Volcano!, ESS), Nick Sandborn (Sylvan Esso), but has constantly pushed the boundaries of computer music. His approach to music composition culminated in the release of his own Pippi system – a python based system for live coding and composition. His music has been released by Audiobulb, Andrew Weather’s Full Spectrum label, The Leaf Label (UK), and Milwaukee’s Listening Party. Paul Feyertag is a composer and guitarist from Milwaukee, WI. His compositions explore the acoustic limitations of western instruments, psycho-physiological phenomena, and the exaggeration of faults within compositional processes. https://vimeo.com/album/5859748

PK Flyer is the project of Chicago musician Paul Karner. Having studied music with Feyertag and Schoster at Lawerence University back when, the forthcoming release of “TILT” is a collection of compositions set to improvised works by Eli Caterer and Jacob Kart. Samples of these guitar improvisations served as the framework for a string quartet arrangement and eventually vocal melodies and lyrics. The result is a suite of 5 songs reflecting on solitude vs. isolation that were reverse engineered in an attempt to upend the creative process. Let’s start with the string arrangements from Metallica’s S&M album and work backwards to Hetfield’s bedroom demos. https://pkflyer.bandcamp.com/
