    WE Series Presents: Nap Ritual

WE is a monthly series curated by Lia Kohl and Deidre Huckabay, in which artists create ceremonies, rituals, or rites of passage that promote collective mindfulness with the audience toward a specific intention.

This ritual is a guided journey into rest and relaxation. You will rest your weary eyes and reset your bleary mind.
Soft sounds and soft sights allow a profound feeling of relaxation to roll over your entire body. Maybe there’s a little dusty light coming through the window. maybe it’s afternoon and you can hear someone mowing the lawn, or the cicadas are whirring. maybe your pillow is cool, or your duvet is particularly cloud-like. maybe there’s a cat. As these overwhelming waves of relaxation wash over your body, take a deep breath. Breathe in as the waves come in, and out as the waves recede. Again, breathe in as the waves come in. Out as the waves recede. Allow a powerful feeling of relaxation to fill your entire body. Leave the world and float, as you think about relaxing your head, your neck, your shoulders. Down your arms, and into your hands. Welcome a wonderful feeling of relaxation going down your entire body, through your legs and releasing outward through your toes. Allow the feeling of relaxation to flow outward in all directions as imaginary waves. To the street, in the neighborhood, and into the sky. Just allow yourself to slow down. Soon, we will count downwards from 10 to 1. As you hear every descending number, just feel yourself slow down a little bit more. At the number 1, you will enter your own level of deepest relaxation.
