    Come in from the cold and join us as we bring back romance: soft, thoughtful, soulful spirit of sound. LUA will delve into the music of Caetano Veloso, Antonio Carlos Jobim/Vinicius de Moraes and Djavan. A cool mix of ancient, modern and beyond.

Cher Jey is a Chicago based multidisciplinary artist from Baltimore, MD, focused primarily on expression through sound, movement, line and spirit. Her research has lead her to explore the element of storytelling through black classical music, free music, world music ( with emphasis on Afro-Cuban song and dance), improvised and traditional dance and theater, stream of consciousness writing and non traditional, abstract painting/jewelry design and wire sculpture. She has worked with Latin percussion ensemble, Timba Cartel, Ashe Moyubba Folkloric, Afridansa, David Boykin’s Sebau and Expanse projects, Marvin Tate’s Kitchen Sink, Hieroglyphic Being/Hamid Drake and many other creative collaborations. She recently completed Cher Jey and The Abbey Project presents THE MESSAGE, a tribute to vocalist, actress, model, poet and activist, Abbey Lincoln.


Alex Wing is a guitarist, bassist and creative musician living in Chicago.  He has played with Nicole Mitchell, David Boykin, Wanees Zarour, Hanah Jon Taylor, Douglas Ewart, Avreeayl Ra and many more.
