Denise La Grassa: The Blues Ain’t a Color

“Conversations About Race” - Performance and Group Discussion

Denise La Grassa will present her 75-minute original jazz-theater performance The Blues Ain’t A Color to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Day, followed by a brief community discussion about Dr. King’s legacy.

Students from Rainbow PUSH Coalition and former The Chicago Defender President Col. Eugene Scott are among many that add their voices to conversations about race during “The Blues Ain’t a Color.” Those voices and stunning artwork from the late Maria Kern connect to original La Grassa songs during this jazz-theater production on Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Weekend.
