Artist Highlight: Marine Tempels & Nyabweza Itaagi

Join visual artist Marine Tempels and founder of plant shop Ebimera Vines, Nyabweza Itaagi, for a conversation around environmental stewardship, food justice and art. Tempels’s visual arts exhibition, Lost Effect Cause Found features plants by Itaagi; in this context the two will guide a conversation and reflection on envisioning the future in a world with rapidly changing climates. No prior knowledge needed. Come imagine a radically different future together.

Marine Tempels is a Belgian-American artist living in Chicago, IL.  Marine believes art is a powerful tool for learning and healing, and approaches painting as a meditative practice to explore ideas and questions. Her most recent body of work, Lost Effect Cause Found, explores the role of manmade environments in a world with rapidly changing weather and landscapes.

Raised in Colorado, Nyabweza Itaagi moved to Chicago to attend DePaul University’s master’s program in Sustainable Urban Development. After graduating from the program in June 2018, Itaagi conceptualized and created her plant business, Ebimera Vines. She hopes to bridge the natural and built environments by bringing greenery into residences and businesses.
